About Joel Mog

I work with individuals and families to gather the strengths and skills to handle tough moments, put old traumas in perspective and in the past, focus on their values, and find calm through life’s biggest transitions and upheavals.

I draw on the tools of mindfulness, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, motivational interviewing, and DBT/CBT to help you focus on what matters to you, what you’re passionate about, and how to put your values and aspirations into action.

A licensed clinical social worker with two decades of experience, I started my career working with some of our society’s most vulnerable—including teens in the juvenile justice system and families transitioning out of homelessness. Since then, I’ve counseled clients at every stage of life—navigating a new career, new family, loss and grief, midlife turning points, spiritual questions, trauma, change in marital status, aging, and medical issues.

My personal journey includes a 3000-mile bicycle tour through Central America as a young adult, my own experience with chronic illness,  time living and working in intentional communities, hiking and immersion in nature, and a yearlong sabbatical in 2023-2024, during which I took classes in life transitions and trauma at Harvard Divinity School. I’ve always felt it’s important to savor the ride through both hard and joyful moments.
